Google Plus - the new social network?

WILL Google do it again? Could this be the Facebook killer? Google Plus (aka Google+ or G+) is Google's new social network site that is sure to stir things up in the social network domain that is currently dominated by Facebook. Google+ is still in beta testing so you will need an invite to start using it but once you receive your invite and create your account you can then invite your friends to join you too. The first sight of Google+ and all the circles may look confusing but in fact it looks like Google has put a lot of thought into privacy and you can place different contacts into different groups of circles. The good thing about this is that every time you post a message you can decide which circles of friends can read that message. By default Google+ sets up four circles for you - "friends" (your real friends, the ones you feel comfortable sharing private details with), "family" (your close and extended family, with as many or as few in-laws as you want), "acquaintances" (a good place to stick people you've met but aren't particularly close to), "following" (people you don't know personally, but whose posts you find interesting). You can create and add additional circles and your friends will never know which circle you have placed them into. Google+ has some handy features such a mute button that comes in handy if you find a post is getting too much and you no longer wish to be notified when additional comments get added. Adding a photo to a post is really simple because you can simply drag and drop directly from your desktop. Google doesn't offer usernames in the url yet, so for now if you really want a shorter url then you can set your username at www.gplus.to and then you can connect to your page using www.gplus.to/username. If you would like an invite to Google+ feel free to email your request to fijitechtips@gmail.com and I will be more than happy to send you an invite.
